Leadership Lee’s Summit

Empowering Leaders. Building Community. Strengthening Lee’s Summit.

Leadership Lee’s Summit is more than just an intensive leadership program aimed to develop future leaders and bolster participants’ core skillsets.

It’s an opportunity to grow, build strong relationships with community members to amplify your reach and collaborate with others to work together toward common goals.

About the Program

What’s the Purpose of Leadership LS?

Leadership Lee’s Summit (LLS) is designed to assist in developing the future leaders of the area. Since its inception in 1991, the program has empowered more than 500 participants to become influential community leaders.

How Are Candidates are Chosen?

A maximum of 30 participants are chosen each year.

This is based on strict criteria including:

  • personal motivation,
  • an interest in serving Lee’s Summit,
  • potential or existing opportunities for advancement to top leadership positions,
  • willingness to commit time and energy to complete the program, and full support of the organization being represented.

How Long Does the Program Last?

LLS is an intensive nine-month program beginning with a welcome reception in August and ending with graduation in May.

How is the Program Organized?

Participants are divided into small groups, with each group responsible for planning and executing one class day.

Attendance Requirements

Participants are allowed one excused absence of eight hours; two additional community service hours are required for each hour missed after that excused eight hours in order to graduate.

Attendance at the first session in September is mandatory and may not be counted as an excused absence.

Missing a total of 16 hours or more of class time results in removal from the program.

I will always be grateful for the experience and the friends that I have made in this process.
