The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has endorsed and offered their support for the City of Lee’s Summit’s half-cent sales tax ballot initiative which will appear on the April 5, 2022 ballot. The half-cent sales tax is solely for the purpose of providing revenue for the operation of the police and fire departments, including services necessary to meet the safety needs of the community, purchase needed equipment and add personnel to increase emergency response capability and provide increased compensation and training in order to recruit quality candidates and retain experienced personnel. If approved, the public safety sales tax could exceed 10 million annually!

“Lee’s Summit takes great pride in our public safety services and as a result one of the main reasons that families are moving to our wonderful community is to enjoy the safety and care provided by our top-rated police and fire departments. The revenue generated from this half-cent sales tax will continue to keep our businesses and residents confident knowing they work and live in a community focused on safety,” said Matt Baird, President of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce.

The Lee’s Summit Chamber supports the City of Lee’s Summit’s half-cent sales tax ballot initiative. We encourage the citizens of Lee’s Summit and our business community to show their support by voting yes on April 5!
