Evergy offers Energize Our Environment Hometown Grants

Longtime Lee’s Summit Chamber member, Evergy, has announced a grant program for qualifying nonprofit organizations.

The 2025 Hometown Grant program promotes environmental and sustainable initiatives in the Evergy service area with the help of community organizations. Selected projects will be awarded grants up to $10,000.

Organizations must be nonprofit (501c3 and 501c6) and reside within the Evergy service area. Projects must take place within the service area to be eligible for funding.

See program rules below:

1. Applying organization does not have be environmentally-focused, but the project must be. A completed application must be submitted at evergy.com/hometown-grant with each potential project.
2. Each submission must have a contact person who will be responsible for completing the project. This person must be 18 years or older.
3. Evergy employees are allowed to be members of organizations that apply for funding, as long as they are not the ones applying for the grant and the organization is not affiliated with Evergy.
4. Any project that requires city or property approval must be obtained before the project is submitted to Evergy.
5. By submitting a project, you agree to provide status updates on the project as well as provide photos and/or videos of the project as it progresses, if it is approved. You also grant Evergy the opportunity to talk about the project on social media, with media outlets, on evergy.com and other channels.
6. Entries must be entered by 5:00 p.m., May 2, 2025. The recipients will be notified on May 19, 2025.
7. Evergy must be mentioned in any communications or promotional materials you create about the project.
8. Grant funds must be used for the specific purpose of the program/project.
9. Changes in the project or program must have prior approval before grant funds are spent.

Examples of possible grant-funded initiatives:
• Installation of recycling stations around the community
• School environmental programs
• Environmental improvements to parks, trails, etc.
• Projects that address a key environmental problem or incorporate sustainable energy solutions
